Newsroom editors wary of giving their reporters and columnists weblogs -- for fear of the ongoing time involved -- might consider the notion of temporary blogs tied to specific events or topics likely to have a limited lifespan. A good example is the temporary blog of Philadelphia Daily News television critic Ellen Gray, who this week has been covering the Television Critics Association's summer meetings in Hollywood. Gray's daily dispatch is termed a "personal journal," but it's a blog. This is smart coverage -- offering readers daily updates in between Gray's regular twice-a-week TV columns.
